Growth & Change

‘For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ – Isaac Newton

Whenever you decide to challenge yourself, change, or grow you will experience a lot of setbacks. You will receive a lot of resistance not just from your own mind but from those around you as well. It’s never really a smooth ride but that’s part of the journey.

Change is never an easy process and your mind is so habituated to certain conditioning/programming and behavioural patterns that at first there will be a lot of resistance when you start to change and question your own habits, beliefs, and assumptions.

I think in general it’s very unpleasant and we get very uncomfortable when it comes to the idea of self analysis and really looking at how we behave, think, and act and why that actually happens. How many of our held opinions and beliefs are actually our own (I guess technically nothing ever is purely our own as everything is learned) and not just something that we’ve adopted from somewhere or someone else such as an authority figure within our lives?

I realise that the process of questioning and changing ourselves can be hard and unpleasant (I have and still am continuously experiencing it myself). It is however a necessary process, especially if you wish to rid yourself of the many false layers of your perceived identity that has mainly been build up by your environment and experiences. This includes your education, family upbringing/parenting, and society in general.

We are all conditioned on some level and the first step to changing our patterns is to become aware of the fact that we have been conditioned and programmed in a certain way.
